This one day training course aims to provide delegates with an introductory knowledge about drugs both legal and illegal commonly used in our society.





Programme Aims

  • To equip participants with the basic knowledge of the most commonly used drugs both legal and illegal
  • To provide participants with an understanding of the most prevalent substances that are likely to be misused including possible effects, potential risks, routes of use and the law.
  • To provide local and national information on resources available



   


 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

1. Examine own belief systems in relation to substance misuse

2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the most prevalent drugs both legal and illegal, their presentation and routes of use

3. Discuss the most prevalent substances that are likely to be misused.

4. Know where to signpost/refer


Indicative Course Content Including Learning and Teaching Strategies

The training programme will explicitly link with the intended learning outcomes detailed above. Specialist trainers will provide the theoretical construct to this training. All delegates will be provided with a copy of HYP HOP RAID (Reminders And Information on Drugs) Resource. RAID Cards are an invaluable reference guide providing an overview of the most prevalent substances that are likely to be misused including possible effects, potential risks, routes of use and the law.
