Personal, Social and Health Education Delivery

HYP HOP recognises that traditional relationships and sex education and drug education provides knowledge and to some extent skills but little in terms of young people’s values and attitudes. HYP HOP therefore seeks to rectify this discrepancy by delivering education programmes to young people that gains their interest, trust and respect by working with them and engaging them rather than just the delivery of information.

HYP HOP educational programmes for young people aim to:

  • Explore values, beliefs and attitudes, which influence young people’s lives
  • Consider social and moral dilemmas that young people may come across in everyday life
  • Develop skills relating to decision making and making informed choices
  • Provide relevant ways to help young people take and share responsibility
  • Help young people to feel positive about themselves and improve their confidence
  • Provide a safe environment in which young people can identify with the scenarios and characters within drama

HYP HOP Road Shows

HYP HOP has been involved in delivering road shows since 2005 bringing together the expertise of its trainers to provide a day of drama, music and workshops for young people. Since its creation HYP HOP has stressed the effectiveness of new approaches to relationships and sex and drug education, for example, drama and music has been used extensively. Its innovative approach has been successful with not only young people but with educationalists and health professionals.

The workshops are far ranging reflecting the fact that health including sexual health cannot be considered in isolation and other influences such as relationships, self-esteem, substance misuse, media and peer pressure cannot be ignored. The workshops topics include:

  • Let’s Talk (Communication)
  • Love what’s it all about? (Love and Relationships)
