Laura Jones Training Consultant BSc (Hons) Community Health, RGN, Higher Diploma Child Health, Family Planning Nurse (Young People), PC Cert Education
Laura Jones is a training consultant for HYP HOP Ltd and also works as Sexual Health Outreach Nurse working with vulnerable, hard to reach young people in an area of high deprivation. The aim of her outreach work is to reduce the rates of teenage pregnancy and improve the sexual health of the young people she works with. This work is varied and often diverse and includes running sexual health outreach clinics, working with young parents, youth offender groups, Looked After Children, ethnic minority groups and those excluded from mainstream education. Her work includes the delivery of the HYP HOP and other programmes of relationship and sex education to groups of identified young people and co professionals. Laura has been involved with the delivery of HYP HOP to both young people and the training of those working with young people and is passionate about the positive messages that HYP HOP promotes to recipients. Laura has extensive experience of working with young people, including many years as a paediatric nurse and working as a school nurse with specific responsibility for adolescent health. She currently enjoys sessional lecturing in aspects of sexual health at Canterbury Christchurch University, as well as her current role. She is a qualified young person's family planning nurse and holds a Higher National Diploma in child health as well as a BSc in community health. Laura has also completed a Post Compulsory certificate in Education.

Jinny Robinson - Consultant BSc (HONS) RN Adult Nursing, BSc (HONS) RM Midwifery, FP Cert.
Jinny started working for HYP HOP as an independent consultant in 2007 due to her passion for ensuring that children and young people are empowered to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives, reaching their full potential. Through her work as a qualified specialist Contraceptive and Sexual Health Nurse, Jinny has many years of clinical experience in promoting positive sexual health. Jinny’s work as a Teenage Pregnancy Strategic Co-ordinator has provided her with a wealth of knowledge in relation to teenage sexual health and local and national strategies for children and young people. Jinny has a proven track record in influencing the prioritisation of work streams under the umbrella of teenage sexual health within local Children and Young Peoples Plans. Jinny’s professional background includes working as a hospital and community midwife within a disadvantaged area offering enhanced and extended maternity services to vulnerable women and their families. In 2007 Jinny won the Nursing Times Maternity Services award as well as attended a reception at Number 10, Downing Street in recognition of excellence within maternity services. More recently, Jinny’s role as a Senior Public Health Manager has given her broad experience and understanding of public health and health promotion strategies. Jinny is devoted to reducing health inequalities by addressing wider determinants of health. As a co-author of the RASH Cards resource, and training consultant, Jinny is committed to equipping front line professionals and practitioners with the confidence and competence to arm young people with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices.

Gwyneth Moore - Training Consultant RGN RM RHV Advanced Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory)
Gwyn qualified originally as a general nurse gaining experience on a busy children’s ward before undertaking her midwifery training. As a qualified midwife Gwyn worked as a hospital based Midwife before becoming a Community Midwife gaining a variety of experience in a post which she loved. Gwyn particularly enjoyed facilitating ante-natal education and working with new parents. Gwyn later trained and worked as a Health Visitor continuing to give ante-natal education. She has developed a particular interest in peri-natal depression and working with young parents. Gwyn currently works as a Health visitor. She believes that Teenage parents are a particularly vulnerable group often requiring extra support and liaises with other professionals and specialist workers to try to ensure their needs are met. Gwyn completed the Certificate in Education as she has always loved teaching and training and is now delighted to work part time with HYP HOP.

Steve Butler - Training Consultant and is a co author of the Sex, Drugs and HYP HOP Educational Resource and RAID (Reminders and Information on Drugs) Cards

Steve Butler is a HYP HOP Training Consultant specialising in the field of drug and alcohol education and risk taking behaviour. He is also currently employed as the East Kent Service Manager with KCA Young Persons’ drug and alcohol service.
Within this field Steve’s experience spans across working in Adult Harm Reduction which included specialising in supporting access to treatment and reducing the risks of blood borne viruses, needle exchange, and he was one of the founders of the overdose awareness and risk management programme for service users.
Steve has co-ordinated the Kent KCA Young Persons’ Early intervention team, who target vulnerable young people, trying to support them in gaining accurate information in order to reduce risk taking behaviour and make positive choices. Steve has also coordinated the delivery of training, and trained, professionals working with substance using young people, referral into appropriate services and drug and alcohol awareness. Prior to this Steve’s experiences were as an EMT with Kent Ambulance service, where he gained a sound basis in emergency health care dealing with a wide variety of medical situations. Steve is a director of a First Aid training company that have developed several programmes working with vulnerable young people and young parents. Steve is experienced and committed in supporting young people and is dedicated in continuing with his work in this field.

Anne Lord - Training Consultant is a co author of the Sex, Drugs and HYP HOP Educational Resource and RAID (Reminders and Information on Drugs) Cards MSc. B.A. Certificate Education
Anne is a qualified teacher and has taught across a range of ages, abilities and behaviours. She has been a Schools Drug Education Adviser in Kent since 1993 and has been committed to the development of Sex, Drugs and HYP HOP from its conception. She is an experienced trainer of teachers and a wide range of other professionals who work with young people. Anne has served as a police officer in Kent, and worked in a youth offenders institution and adult prison delivering HIV and drugs education. Ann is a regular speaker and workshop facilitator at local, national and international conferences. She has promoted the integration of drugs, relationships and sex education in the curriculum and the advancement of normative approaches to drug education. She is experienced in research and policy development and has established and managed an outreach health project for vulnerable young people. Anne has created, written and coordinated the development of many educational resources, including the subject of community safety of young people and a DVD for parents. Anne is a advocate for the empowerment of young people through their participation and consultation.

Nicola Rouse - HYP HOP Training Consultant BA (Hon) Post Compulsory Education & Training, Certificate in Education.
Nicola Rouse has gained considerable experience teaching drama, music, IT, community skills and personal care to young people and adults with a learning disability and challenging behaviour including substance misuse, autistic spectrum disorders and personality disorders as well as those detained under the Mental Health Act. Nicola is committed to empowering individuals especially the most vulnerable and ensures the promotion of independence, choice, and inclusion within her working practice. She is currently a Group Tutor at Thanet College, teaching Drama, ICT and Sex and Relationships Education to adults with a learning disability and/or sensory impairment. Nicola has developed user friendly resources, which include the use of symbols and signing to ensure all learners are included. The DVD ‘The right time, the right place, the right person’ has emerged from this role in partnership with HYP HOP Ltd. Nicola supported learners to perform this drama live at a variety of venues, including the Leas Cliff Hall Folkestone, ‘Live the Dream Festival’ and the RCN National Sexual Health conference at the Royal College of Physicians in London.
